  • Priority will be given to applicants who have not yet had the opportunity to participate in the twice-weekly standard courses or the semi-intensive or intensive courses organised during the current academic year, unless they can justify an urgent need for the language in their work.

PLACEMENT TESTS

For people whose level in the language requested is not known, placement tests will be organised at the end of April and the beginning of May. An invitation will be sent in due course.

ADMISSION CRITERIA

Applicants must :
  • Be either an official, a temporary, auxiliary or local agent at the closing date for applications. Seconded national experts (END) will be admitted if space is available.
  • Never have participated in a specialised or specific course in the language requested (or not have been assessed as being of a higher level than level 6 in the placement test).

For those who are currently attending a standard course at level 6, only those students who have not successfully completed the session will be considered.

PROCEDURE FOR ENROLMENT

All applications for an intensive course must be on the basis of a new request even if the applicant is already attending a standard twice-weekly course.

If the participant passes the examination at the end of the intensive course :

  • Those who are not enrolled in a standard twice-weekly course and wish to continue classes in that language must submit a new application for the next session of standard courses.
  • Those who are already attending a standard twice-weekly course will be automatically enrolled at the next level when the courses restart.

The completed application form should be sent through the appropriate hierarchical channels and submitted via the Training Coordinator of each DG/service to the Training Unit IX.A.3 - LANGUAGE TRAINING SECTOR (office GUIM 1/60), by mail only (and not by fax).

APPLICATIONS RECEIVED AFTER THE CLOSING DATE (16 APRIL) CANNOT BE CONSIDERED.

You will be informed of the outcome of your application from 1 June 1999. Please refrain from calling or visiting us before this date, so that we can give our full attention to setting up the session for the benefit of all our participants.
