SPORT : Special tariff conditions granted to the personnel of the commission in sports clubs in Brussels area.

One of the priorities of the policy for social equipment established within the framework of reform to make sports facilities available to the staff of the Commission (cf. Page 6 and para. of the Communication from Mr Kinnock SEC (2001) 284/4 of 28 February 2001).

An approach was made to clubs established in the Brussels area, in order to seek preferential tariff conditions for the staff of the Commission, like as it is the case for groups, administrations, banks, companies, etc.

It is not a question of a contract for the provision of services drawn up between the Commission and sports clubs. The Commission does not intervene in the customer/club relation. The Commission does not subsidise the activity either. Its role is limited to informing its staff (via IntraComm) of the more favourable tariff conditions offered by these clubs.

In this context, the Commission drew up conventions with nine clubs which give tariff reductions, on the basis of a pilot project renewable on a yearly basis, if necessary, for three additional years. The reductions granted vary between 5% and 62.11% according to the club, the type of activity and the subscription. Visits were made to the clubs and the results were positive. These clubs are located in the Communes of Brussels (Rue Neuve and Rogier), of Woluwe-St-Lambert, of Evere, of Saint-Gilles, of Ixelles, of Etterbeek, of Saint-Josse, of Uccle and of Molenbeek-St-jean (some covering several communes and giving the same conditions of access to its clubs located in Belgium and elsewhere in the world). Details of the sports clubs, location, the type of activity and the facilities offered, and the preferential tariffs granted are included on IntraComm.
