IMPORTANT

If your request reaches the secretariat of the interinstitutional language courses

  • before 15 December 1999, it will be considered for the session beginning in February 2000. The courses will begin on 21st February 2000 and will end on 30 June 2000.

  • between 16 December and 30 April 2000 it will be considered for the session beginning in September 2000. The courses will begin on 25 September 2000 and will end during the month of February 2001.

Our team deals with 9.000 requests a year on a very tight time-scale. Please, therefore, remember we must apply the deadlines strictly. However the secretariat may be able to be flexible in cases where there are still places available after the classes have been created (except for French and English for which there are always more requests than places). If we have a place available for you we will contact you.

We will inform you of the outcome of your request :
  • by 15 February 2000 at the latest for the second semester 1999/2000

  • by 15 September 2000 at the latest for the first semester 2000/2001, as we have to include a number of people from the summer intensive courses which end on 31 August.

Therefore please do not contact us until you have received a written reply to your request. If you do not hear anything from us after these dates do not hesitate to contact the course manager of the language of your choice.

A person participating in an intensive summer course is not automatically enrolled in a standard course for the September session. So, if you wish to continue you language training after your intensive course, and if you are not already enrolled in a standard course, you will have to submit a separate request (to be sent before the deadline indicated above).

    * You are only allowed to enrol for one course per semester.

    * You will not be allowed to change language once the secretariat of the language courses has received your application form.

    * People who are currently attending courses 1 to 5 do not need to submit a new application as their enrolment is automatic until they complete level 6.

    * People who are currently attending a level 6 course or a specialised or specific module will need to send in a new application if they wish to continue their studies.

    * For obvious pedagogical reasons, people who were enrolled on a course in the 1st semester 1999-2000 and who either :

    • never attended or

    • gave up attending or

    • did not attend regularly (6 consecutive absences or 10 non-consecutive absences for a twice-weekly course; 3 consecutive absences or 5 non-consecutive absences for a specialised or a specific course, regardless of the reason for the absence)

will need to submit a new application.
