Weightings applicable in third countries
Articles 12 and 13 of Annex X to the Staff Regulations
In accordance with the first paragraph of Article 12 of Annex X to the
Staff Regulations, the salary of officials serving in third countries may
be paid in currency of the country of employment. In this case a weighting
is applied to the part paid in local currency (since the entry into force
of the new Staff Regulations on 1 May 2004 these provisions apply to
contract staff serving in third countries).
In accordance with the second paragraph of Article 13, the Commission may
decide to adjust the weighting when the change in the economic parity is
found to have exceeded 5% since the last adjustment.
The Commission adopted the decision adjusting the weightings applicable to
certain places of employment from 1 August 2006, 1 September 2006, 1
October 2006, 1 November 2006, 1 December 2006 and 1 January 2007, on 18
December 2007(1) .
The tables at annex set out, for the places of employment concerned, the
new economic parities, the corresponding exchange rates, the resulting
weightings and the dates on which the changes in economic parity exceeding
5% took place.
