Weightings applicable in third countries
Articles 12 and 13 of Annex X to the Staff Regulations
In accordance with the first paragraph of Article 12 of Annex X to the
Staff Regulations, the salary of officials serving in third countries may
be paid in currency of the country of employment. In this case a weighting
is applied to the part paid in local currency.
Since the entry into force of the new Staff Regulations on 1 May 2004
these provisions also apply to contract staff serving in third countries.
In accordance with the second paragraph of Article 13 of Annex X to the
Staff Regulations, the Commission may decide to adjust the weighting when
the change in the economic parity is found to have exceeded 5% since the
last adjustment.
Having regard to all three points stated above, the Commission adopted a
Decision adjusting the weightings applicable to certain places of
employment, on 11 April 2008 (1) .
The Decision concerns the following months: from 1st February 2007, from
1st March 2007, from 1st April 2007, from 1st May 2007, and from 1st June
2007.
The tables at annex
set out, for the places of employment concerned, the new economic
parities, the corresponding exchange rates, the resulting weightings and
the dates on which the changes in economic parity exceeding 5% took place.
