Regional tax in the Brussels-Capital Region The attention of staff is drawn to the following: The regional tax in the Brussels-Capital Region is intended to finance the public services for which that Region is responsible. The radio and television licence fee was abolished from 1 January 2002 and the regional tax, which stood at 50,32 EUR in 2001, was raised to 165 EUR for 2002. Since this is a flat-rate tax levied neither directly nor indirectly on the salaries, wages and emoluments paid by the Communities, officials and other servants of the Community institutions cannot rely on their status to claim exemption. Only heads of household who satisfy the specific conditions laid down by the rules applicable in Brussels are exempt from payment of the regional tax. | |
