REGISTRATION FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR 2005/2006

ask parents wishing to enrol their children for the next school year (commencing September 2005) to submit their application between Monday, 4th April and Friday 29th April 2005.

The only applications accepted after 29th April 2005 will be from those families who move to Brussels after the deadline.

The secretariats of all three schools are open from Monday to Friday from 9h00 to 12h00 and from 14h00 to 16h00, with the exception of Wednesday afternoons.

    The schools will be unable to give a decision regarding requests for enrolment during June and July unless all the required documentation is submitted with the application form.
     

  2. NECESSARY DOCUMENTS
     
    1. Enrolment application forms duly completed.
      These forms can be obtained from the ADMINFO of the European Commission and from the Personnel or Social Services departments of the European Union Institutions. They can also be obtained from the school secretariat.

      For pupils coming from other schools, parents must supply all the information requested and, in particular, indicate clearly (in their mother tongue) the classes attended in previous years and to specify the second language chosen as well as the child's level of ability in these languages.
       
    2. A certified copy of the birth certificate.
       
    3. A form relating to the employment status of the parents, duly completed and signed. This form is compulsory and must be attached to each enrolment form. It serves to determine the level of school fees to be paid for each child.
       
    4. A school report for the school year 2003/2004 showing the results obtained and also the most recent report for this academic year 2004/2005. At the end of the current school year a document indicating whether (s)he has qualified for promotion to a higher class. These documents are not necessary for pupils entering nursery school or first year primary.
       
    5. A recent photograph of the child, identity card size.

    The above documents are indispensable. The child's registration is final only when his/her file is complete (Article 46 of the General Rules of the European Schools). The documents will be returned upon departure from the school.
     

  3. CHILDREN ALREADY ENROLLED

    Children who attended the school during the school year 2004/2005 will be automatically enrolled for the school year 2005/2006.
    Children in the final year of the nursery and who meet the age requirement, pass automatically into the first year of the primary school.
     
  4. AGE OF ADMISSION
     
    1. Nursery

      In order to be admitted into the nursery school, a pupil must reach the age of 4 during the year in which he starts school.
       
    2. 1st year primary

      In order to be admitted into the first year of the primary school, a pupil must reach the age of 6 during the year in which he starts school.
       
    3. Higher Classes

      Admission into the upper classes is generally subject to the same requirements, the age increasing with the age requirement of each class.

    The Brussels I School consists of eight language sections : Danish, English, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Polish and Spanish with all sections operating from the nursery up to the final year of the secondary school.

    In 2005/2006, Polish and Hungarian sections will be operating from the nursery to the 6th Secondary.

    Pupils of Slovenian and Maltese nationalities will be enrolled in the Brussels I school.

    The Brussels II School consists of eight language sections : Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Swedish with all sections operating from nursery up to the final year of the secondary school.

    Pupils of Estonian, Latvian or Lithuanian nationalities will be enrolled in the Brussels II school.

    3. BRUSSELS III / Ixelles, Boulevard du Triomphe 135, 1050 BRUSSELS

    The Brussels III School consists of seven language sections : Czech, Dutch, English, French, German, Greek, and Spanish with all the sections operating from nursery up to the final year of the secondary school.

    In 2005/2006, a Czech section will be operating for nursery and primary.

    Pupils of Slovakian and Cypriot nationalities will be enrolled in the Brussels III school.
     
  6. COMMENCEMENT OF THE SCHOOL YEAR 2005/2006

    The date of the commencement of the school year 2005/2006 will be Tuesday, 6th September 2005.
     
  7. OPENING OF THE SECRETARIAT

    During the summer holidays, the three schools will be open until 29th July 2005. During the month of August, they will be open as follows :

    Brussels I : from 22nd to 26th August from 9h00 to 14h30 and from 29th August to 2nd September 2005 from 9h00 to 16h00
    Brussels II : from 16th to 31st August 2005 from 9h00 to 12h00
    Brussels III : from 16th to 31st August 2005 from 9h00 to 12h00
