This administrative notice concerns the rules for implementing the attestation procedure.

The attestation procedure allows officials in the assistants' function group (AST) who are currently in the former C* (AST I-7) and D* (AST I-5) career streams to access the former B* career stream and become members of the assistants' function group (hereinafter “function group AST”) with prospects of promotion to grade AST 11 without career restriction.

The rules for implementing the attestation procedure were largely simplified in 2006, on the basis of the experience acquired during the first exercise organised in 2005. The new rules for implementing the attestation procedure (in Annex) were adopted by a Commission Decision on 29 November 2006. The 2006 attestation exercise is the first exercise based on the new implementing rules.
