ACQUISITION OF ADDITIONAL PENSION RIGHTS BY OFFICIALS AND
TEMPORARY STAFF WHO ENTERED INTO SERVICE BEFORE 1 MAY 2004 – REMINDER
This Administrative Notice concerns those officials and temporary
staff who entered into service before 1 May 2004 and who may wish to
acquire additional pension rights.
Under Article 22(4) of Annex XIII to the Staff Regulations, an official
or member of the temporary staff who entered service before 1 May 2004
and who at the age of 65 cannot attain the maximum retirement pension
provided for in the Staff Regulations (second paragraph of Article 77)
may acquire, under certain conditions, additional pension rights up to
this maximum rate. The general implementing provisions for this article

Applications submitted after the expiry of this deadline will not be
considered. The only date that will be taken into account will be the
date on which the department responsible takes delivery of an
application sent by registered post or, failing that, the date on which
the application is registered with the department responsible.
Which is the department responsible?
- For Commission staff, irrespective of their place of employment,
it is PM0-4 – Transfers Sector – GUIM 6/32.
- In other cases, it is the human resources unit of the relevant
agency.
