Continued entitlement under the Joint Sickness Insurance Scheme for former officials entitled to retirement pensions who left the service of the European Communities before the age of 60


THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL FOR PERSONNEL AND ADMINISTRATION,


Having regard to Article 72(2a) of the Staff Regulations,

Whereas officials retiring early must be granted entitlement to benefits under the Joint Sickness Insurance Scheme, on certain conditions,

Whereas this policy must be applied uniformly across the institutions,


HAS DECIDED AS FOLLOWS:

  1. Pursuant to Article 72(2a) of the Staff Regulations, former officials entitled to retirement pensions who left the service of the Communities before the age of 60 years are also entitled to the benefits provided for in Article 72(1) of the Staff Regulations, provided that they cannot obtain cover under any other public scheme of sickness insurance.

    For the purposes of applying the above provision, this condition shall be deemed to be satisfied where the former official is not in gainful employment.

  2. Conclusion 182/88 is hereby repealed.

  3. This internal Directive shall enter into force on 1 June 2000.
